I have been a Peace Officer for the past 12 years. While working with the City of Patterson I was a K9 officer for 1 1/2 years with a rottweiler named Gonzo.
I have worked for the Stanislaus County Sheriff's Office for the past 8 years. During that time I worked in a contract city and worked narcotics in a detective assignment. I am a member of a PSA Club "Protection Sport Association" in Sonora, California where I assist in training and Decoy work with civilian dogs.
I was assigned to the K9 unit in March of 2006 with K9 Ike. Ike is a 23 month old Belguim Malinois who I raised and trained from 7 weeks of age. Ike was donated to the Sheriff's Department once I was a member of the team. We certified for patrol in April of 2006 when Ike was only 18 months old. We have had over 50 deployments with several surrenders.
Being a K9 handler has been an enjoyable assignment.
